The DVSA will not be testing during the current lockdown, and tuition is not allowed

Due to a shift in peoples holiday plans we have already seen an increase in the number of people buying a caravan, and needing to take the Car and Trailer test. With this in mind we are now booking at least 10 weeks ahead so please look at booking in early for holiday session 2021 to avoid disappointment.
If you are caravanning or towing for the first time we offer a 3hour experience session,
On a 3 hour session we will cover the skills needed for reversing a trailer, attaching and detaching a trailer safely and a short drive on the road to cover the basic awareness when towing on the road. This is a great session for people who would like some training but do not need to do the DVSA test. eg older people getting into caravanning or people who need to tow occasionally for work or pleasure and are within the permitted weights of their current drivers licence
These sessions can normally be done Monday - Saturday 3 - 6 pm (light permitting)
Price = £115 vehicle and trailer included
Training will be conducted with our usual Ifor williams 10x6 box trailer

Vehicle and Trailer included
The most popular course,10 hours Tuition,12 in total including the test etc. Mainly around test routes, most people find this course offers just the right amount of time to cover all aspects fully, and reach a standard sufficient or higher to pass the DVSA test at the end of day 2, vehicle trailer and test included
For people with little or no towing experience. who feel extra training and practice would be the best for them. 16 hours tuition 18 in total including the test at the end all aspects covered fully, vehicle trailer and test included
For a couple or two friends or work colleagues to train together and share the time behind the wheel, day 1 would be a 8 hour day and day 2 a 6 hour day normally, but times are flexible, both tests would be on day 2 which would leave 11 hours of tuition time over the 2 days, then the two test slots included.
This course should only be booked by people with experience of trailers, not suitable for complete novices.
The Car and Trailer test is basically the DVSA goods vehicle driving test.
This test involves:-1 set Reverse exercise, during which you can only pull forward (shunt) twice if its not going the correct way.
:-An un-couple and recouple, in which you have to do everything in a safe correct order.
And then: - At least 50 minutes of driving to a professional level on various types of roads eg:- villages single carriageway, dual carriageway, motorway, and town centre driving,
On a full day we will cover the skills needed for reversing a trailer, attaching and detaching a trailer safely and covering the on road aspect for the test and improving your driving up to the standard required to pass the DVSA car and trailer test.Normally on and around the test area Normal hours are 8.30am to 3.00pm with a break for lunch but times are flexible.

a 8 hour full day is normally for 2 people but could be used by one person. all skills needed for reversing a trailer are covered, attaching and detaching a trailer safely and covering the on road aspect for the test. swapping between candidates behind the wheel throughout the day.Normal hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm with a break for lunch but times are flexible.

To sum up Training is £230 per day (6 hours) £295 (8 Hours) DVSA Test Fee is £115 + £5 booking fee

The Test centre we use is the WEEDON test centre located between Daventry and Northampton.

Coventry Trailer Training offers fast track intensive trailer training courses to help you pass your car and trailer test.
The B+E test is conducted in a DSA large goods vehicle driving test centre and lasts about one and a half hours. A very high standard of driving is required to pass this type of test, which Coventry Trailer Training can prepare you for.
For the car and trailer, horsebox or caravan (B+E) towing test we advise between 2 and 5 days training to get you to the DSA test standard depending on your experience, and driving standard.
Course content - Starting the day at our safe off road site practising the reverse exercise and uncoupling and recoupling the trailer safely. Then we progress onto road driving to reach required standard of driving while towing, with the driving test at the end of the last day. Our courses cover all that is required for you to pass the B+E test.
We have a suitable box trailer which meets the DSAs requirements for the test. Box trailer loaded with 600kg

Did you pass your driving test on or after 1st January 1997 if so :-
You are required to pass an additional driving test in order to tow large trailers above 750kg and gain entitlement to category B+E*
This includes horsebox and caravan towing.
*category B vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes MAM and with up to 8 passenger seats maybe coupled with a trailer up to 750kg MAM (allowing a combined weight up to 4.25 tonnes MAM) OR a trailer over 750kg MAM provided the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, and the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes MAM.
