Towing for work

Now all post 1997 drivers are allowed to tow up to 3500kg trailers many people will be towing for work purpose without any previous experience.

At Coventry trailer training we can teach yourself or employees how to reverse with a trailer on one of our towing training courses safely couple and un-couple a trailer and assess their on the road driving ability to ensure safe on and off road use of a trailer.

we have a Ifor Williams 10x 5 box trailer or a Ifor Williams 12 x 6 3500kg flat bed that could also be used.

At the end of the session a report can be supplied reflecting what tuition was given and what standard was reached by the candidate, with a summary of any area of their trailer use or driving which they need to work on.

A basic course is 6 1/2 hours £260

• Pre towing checks/ daily checks
• safe hitching and un-hitching of the trailer
• correct loading of a trailer
• checking vehicle and trailer tow capacity
• various reversing manoeuvres
• DVSA car and trailer test manoeuvres  
• on road towing + driver development

With prior arrangement we can come to your place of work and deliver specific training at your site for best results we only recommend up to 2 candidates at a time.

As a company owner you should keep yourself up to date with regulations regarding use of trailers at work and weather a operators licence is required and tachographs should be used. 

By sending staff on a training day you are taking a positive step to educate your staff on their responsibilities to the public other staff and themselves when using a trailer.
